BiNetAZ Presents Group Development 2003 Workshop

Group Facilitation: Process and Outcomes

 This workshop provides an overview of the theory and principles behind group work.   The key concepts to be discussed are; group process, stages of group development, managing group conflict through effective group leadership, and how to effectively attain group outcomes.  The concepts presented will be applied to participants' experiences with group facilitation.  There will an opportunity to discuss and rehearse group facilitation skills.

About the Presenter:  Flavio Marsiglia, Ph.D. ASU

 Presenting this topic in a lecture, discussion and role playing format will be Flavio Marsiglia, Ph.D, Associate Professor and Director, Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Consortium (SIRC), School of Social Work- College of Public Programs at Arizona State University in Tempe.  

 As member of the Phoenix community and ASU, Flavio works with many of the well established GLBT community organizations with.  It is a wonderful opportunity for BiNetAZ to have Flavio work with us in developing our group, our leaders and our members.   Although the topic will be geared to more general group facilitation there is attention to issues that could be more specific to GLBT groups and there will be opportunity for discussion.

 The topic is sure to benefit each of us with our work with BiNetAZ and other groups as well as in many other areas of our personal and professional lives.
